According to Deadline, Amazon Studios and Sony's PlayStation Productions unit are in talks to make a live-action TV series version of God of War. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who are most known for their work on The Expanse and Children of Men, are said to be participating in the project. Aside from those elements, Deadline didn't have much else to say about the adaptation, and Sony and Amazon both declined to comment on the rumour.
With seven primary titles across four consoles, God of War is one of Sony's longest-running franchises. The most current game in the series, God of War, was released in 2018, and it served as a soft reboot of the genre by introducing players to Atreus, the son of protagonist Kratos, and the Norse god pantheon. The God of War sequel is now under development at Santa Monica Studio and is set to release later this year.

If the claim is correct, it will be Sony's fourth gaming IP to receive a film or television adaptation from its newly formed PlayStation Productions unit. Three projects are currently in the works for the division. It's most notable for its collaboration with HBO on a TV series based on Naughty Dog's The Last of Us, which will star Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, and Nick Offerman. It's also working on a film adaptation of the Ghost of Tsushima and a Twisted Metal series for Peacock.
